2024 Annual Report

A year of celebrating and investing in high-impact partnerships with families, schools, communities, and leaders to improve literacy outcomes in Louisiana and beyond.

2024 was a milestone year for The Center for Literacy & Learning.

We celebrated the continued success of Plain Talk About Literacy & Learning® and launched our first-ever Plain Talk About Dyslexia. Our work deepened across Louisiana and expanded nationally with new partnerships in Indiana, Wyoming, and New York—supporting educators, leaders, and students in driving literacy outcomes forward.

Louisiana made historic gains in literacy: fourth-grade reading proficiency rose from 28% in 2022 to 32% in 2024, with the state jumping from 42nd to 16th in national rankings. Governor Jeff Landry recognized The Center for its leadership in achieving these results.

As national literacy scores decline, our commitment only grows stronger. We remain dedicated to equipping classrooms, homes, and communities with evidence-based practices to ensure every student is empowered through literacy. Join us in making it happen.
