A year of momentum, recognition, and continued progress in literacy across Louisiana and beyond.
2025 was a defining year for literacy, as national attention turned to the “Southern Surge” and the remarkable gains made across southern states. Louisiana stood at the forefront of this progress, continuing its rise in national rankings and earning recognition as a leader in literacy improvement. These results reflect years of commitment, collaboration, and investment in evidence-based practices that are making a real difference for students.
The Center for Literacy & Learning is proud to be part of this momentum. Through partnerships with educators, families, and communities, we continued to expand and deepen our impact across Louisiana and nationally. From professional learning and coaching to Plain Talk About Literacy & Learning®, our work remains focused on turning research into practice and ensuring every learner has the opportunity to succeed through literacy. As this momentum continues to build, we remain committed to leading, learning, and partnering to move literacy forward.
